Students share their knowledge in english, french and italian junio 2018

Within the 50th anniversary celebration of the University De La Salle Bajio, the 3rd Academic Day was held last Thursday May 17th in the Language Center of the Campus Campestre.
With the collaboration of five different schools: Agronomy, Architecture, Fashion and Footwear design, Gastronomy and Modern Languages; students from these careers took the challenge to prepare and share with their Language Center classmates interesting topics from these specific areas in English, French and Italian.
Practicing the target language, working collaboratively and learning new things from other subjects are some of the objectives of the academic day, in which some students participate as speakers showing aspects they love about their profession to students from other careers that are willing to learn something different while practicing the language. As part of this dynamic interaction between the students, the attendees had the opportunity to choose the most meaningful topic and they visited and worked in other spaces of the university like the Tissue Culture Lab, the Entomology Lab, the Bakery and Pastry Lab or the Food Lab.
Most of the workshops this year were presented by teams made out of three or four members from the same school. Among these were: “Curious facts about cultures”, “Faits curieux sur les cultures“ “Catrinas”, “Making tartlets”, “Tensegrity” and “Le Marché Du Travail”.
Even though, this year we had some new experiences as the talk “In vitro” tissue culture” was presented in English by only one student. We had the presentation “Insects-Insetti” in which two of the students spoke in English and one in Italian; and we had a workshop in French "L’inspiration de la gastronomie, l’architecture et le design des modes" and this was a demonstration of great collaborative work between three students from three different careers: Architecture, Gastronomy, and Fashion and footwear design.
We truly appreciate the collaboration of all the people who took part in the event, Academic Coordinators and teachers in the schools as well as in the Language Center, but especially to all the students, speakers and attendees as well, for being the central part of this event.
