Universidad De La Salle Bajio, located in the city of Leon, in the state of Guanajuato, in Mexico, is an Institution that has dedicated more than 37 years to Higher Education. Presently, 25 professional degree programs are offered, as well as 33 post-graduate programs.The student population is 13,500 students among its 5 campuses.

Besides being an Institution accredited by FIMPES (Federation of Mexican Private Higher Education Institutions), it has been awarded the acknowledgement of Academic Excellence by the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP).

The School of Dentistry started in 1975 and nowadays it is considered one of the best dental schools in the country, and since 2002 it’s an ApprovedDentalSchoolby the Dental Board of California, as well as being member of the National Council of Dental Education (CONAEDO), since 2004.

In April 2006, the Dental Board approved Universidad De La Salle Bajio“International Dental Program”, which is designed to meet the required educational process necessary to comply with the validation requirements of the State of California for dentists who graduated from schools outside the United States.Completion of the International Dental Program will allow the dentist to present the Dental Board examinations, whose passage will allow them to obtain a dental license that will enable them to practice dentistry in California.

LEÓN, GUANAJUATO


 

The state of Guanajuato is located in the central region of Mexico known as “El Bajio”. The city of Leon is located to the north of the state, on the limits with the state of Jalisco.

It has a population of 1,250,000 inhabitants and it is mainly an industrial city in the manufacture of leather and footwear, although in the last decades, the profile has been shifting towards other industries as well as services.

The weather is semi-desert with 350 days of sun and an average temperature of 27°C, spring being the driest, hottest season of the year, reaching up to 38°C.

Its location is optimal since it is only a few hours driving time from some of the most important cities in the center of the country such as: Mexico City is no more than 4 hours away, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Guadalajara and Aguascalientes are only around two hours from Leon.In addition, Leon is communicated by airplane to the main cities in Mexico, the United States, Canada and Europe.

 
 
   


   
     

PROGRAM


The International Dental Program is divided in two stages:
  • First stage: a (six week) standardization course of 280 hours.
  • Second Stage:To be held during 4 semesters (2 years). All students, without exceptions, must take the two stages.
  • Standardization Course starts on January and ends on middle February.
  • The Second Stage divided into 4 semesters, they start on middle February.
  • Command of the English Language is necessary since classes are taught in this language.

Requirements:

1.-To have covered all admission requirements.
2.-To have passed all Program courses.

Notes:
1.- Students must comply with the university rules and regulations. This program does not guarantee employment in the United States of America.

 

  ADMISSION

To be part of the “International Dental Program” the requirements are as follows:

1. Fill out and sign the admission application form. Download Form
2. Four recent photos size 3 x 2.5 cms.,black and white.
3. Curriculum vitae
4. A two page essay explaining what motivated you to apply for the Program.
5. Three letters of recommendation: Two from a practicing dentist and another from an acquaintance of the candidate, not necessarily a dentist.
6. A copy of your Birth Certificate.
7. Medical Certificate.
8. Computer Based Toefl test score (CBT) of 213 pts. or Internet Based Toefl test score (IBT) of 73 pts.
9. The following documents:
• Official copy of the dental license or its equivalent (cédula professional)
• Official copy of the dental diploma and or degree (título professional)
• Official copy of any post graduate education or specialty (título de posgrado)
• Certified professional education transcripts
Must be submitted for validation to: : Educational Credential Evaluator Inc. (www.ece.org) as “Detail Report” and “Course by Course” in English.
10. Since the point of view of tuition, the IDP can be taken under one of two different modalities
• As a SPONSORED STUDENT. In this case the Sponsored Student Application must be signed. The condition of sponsorship can be read in correspondan document.
• As a NON SOPONSORED STUDENT. In this case You must sign the Non Sponsored Student and present documents that support you financial capacity to cover IDP tuition obligations.
11. Take and pass the theoretical and practical admission exam administered by DeLaSalle.
12. Taken and passed the National Dental Board I. (NB1)
13. Personal interview with the Program Admissions Committee on the same day as the Admission test.
14. Non-refundable application fee in the amount of $200.00 US dollars.
